Junior Champions FCI
The Status of Junior Champion is exclusive to the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale), which serves as the European counterpart to the UK Kennel Club. The FCI is the sole organization that acknowledges Junior Champions, applicable to dogs under the age of two years. To attain this title, a dog must secure either Best of Breed (BOB) or Best in Show (BIS), which is equivalent to earning a CAC or CACIB, as judged by three different judges. This accomplishment can occur within a single event if the dog participates in multiple competitions; however, it typically requires participation in approximately three shows.
Champions FCI, KC, and ABKC
Achieving the title of Champion under The Kennel Club is notably challenging, as it necessitates accumulating points across various shows, with points being awarded exclusively at Champion shows. The criteria for FCI and ABKC Champions are similar to those for Junior Champions, requiring the dog to obtain three CAC or CACIB certificates to qualify as a champion by three different judges. While this can also be accomplished in a single show, achieving this status generally takes around three shows.
Champions FCI and Champion KC
Champions recognized by the FCI and the KC must have earned their titles in their country of origin. If a dog or bitch attains champion status in a different country, this title will not be reflected in its registered name.
Grand Champions FCI and ABKC
A dog or bitch can only attain the title of Grand Champion if it has won three Champion titles in its country of origin. The Kennel Club does not recognize Grand Champions, and the criteria for Grand Champion status are similar for the ABKC.
International Champions FCI Only
A dog can achieve the status of International Champion only if it has secured champion titles in three or more countries, a recognition that is exclusive to the FCI and must occur within a specified timeframe. It is important to note that there is no such thing as an "International Junior Champion".
